Hi, everyone.
So, recently, as I have said in quicknotes, my Mac broke, but was covered under a BestBuy warranty. I received $1,495.00, and since then, have really been struggling with what to buy.
At first, I got a MacBook Air; it was great, but I didn't feel like putting Windows on it, as I don't know how to use the Mac all that well. The second time I returned to BestBuy, I really took my time looking at various laptops, and settled on a Lenovo Yoga 13 2 ideaPad model.
While the laptop is fantastic, there are a few things I don't like:
First, this laptop's screen can flip a full 360 degrees back. Having said that, it is a brilliant feature, because you really can't break the screen, and can use it as a tablet. However, with this model, when you flip back the screen, the keyboard is completely exposed, and the laptop is resting on the keyboard. Not good, as keys could become damaged. Next, this laptop doesn't have the faster wireless AC card, which is a problem, because my WIFi buffers a lot. Especially, when listening to audio.
However, what I am wondering is if a wireless AC card provides better performance when using a N router, or do you need an AC router to take advantage of this?
I have been looking at the I think it is called the Ideapad Yoga Pro 3. There is one at BestBuy for $1300, not including a warranty (I'd buy that separately.) This laptop is slimmer, is made of metal, instead of plastic, and has the AC wireless card, plus a lockable keyboard, when the screen is flipped all the way back. However, I did purchase a Mac Mini, which if I did do this, I would have to return it to get the Yoga. All of you know how many computers I have, so I really didn't need another desktop, but my goal is to be a vision teacher later in life, so I want to be as familiar as possible with all technology, so I thought I would get the Mac Mini to learn how to use. However, I already have a desktop with 16 GB of memory, and although it doesn't have a solid state drive, it is still fast. Can someone please help make a decision, and compare features, and maybe do a scenario, like if you were me type of thing?
Thanks,
Nathan.
PS. Forreel, this sounds like a job for you.
To get AC performance you will need an AC capable rooter.
yeah. your router and your card inside of your device both need to be AC.
